Akuto: Mad World August Update

Akuto: Mad World - Train Kill

Welcome to August’s monthly update for Akuto: Mad World. This month I completed the singleplayer mode. This means you can enjoy the game by yourself when your friends are busy. We also brought back a level from our alpha release and created a random bullet type, which gives characters a different bullet every time they spawn.

You can read on to see what major updates were released in August, with a full list of updates following that. At the bottom of this post, you will find what I am planning for next month. And remember, if you like the game, recommend it to your friends or leave us a review.

Akuto: Mad World is now available from Steam or Humble Store.

Other News
Now with some of the big milestones completed, I have decided to give updates bi-weekly instead of on a weekly basis. This will allow me to focus more on the game before I have to release an update.

For those of you who are not aware, I have been researching and testing ideas for online since April. All this research and testing was one reason why the singleplayer game mode took so long to be completed. I have settled on how I want to do online and am spending some of my time working on getting a prototype version ready. I hope to have a test version of online ready in September, and then I will go from there. Remember, this does not mean online will be in the final release of the game. I am still testing it and seeing if the gameplay holds up.

I will also holding an eSports tournament in September in Busan (South Korea). The tournament will be a part of BIC Fest 2017. Details regarding this will be on the BIC Fest website and their social media. I hope to see some of you there

For the final release, I will be decreasing the multiplayer maps to 10, keeping only the ones that meet my standards and remove the levels that do not or levels that were created for testing (e.g. ‘Sandbox’ level).

Last thing, I have increased the price of the game to its final release price, which is $10.99. The release date for the game is going to be sometime in Q4 2017. If you are reading this, it means the price has already been increased. I provided two weeks’ notice about the price increase on my social media and on the Steam store page.

Fixes and Updates in August

  • Characters now wear a cape when playing team-based games, which show their team color
  • Leaderboard created to show highest score in a single game of singleplayer
  • Leaderboard created to show fastest completion time in singleplayer
  • Stats menu updated to include singleplayer game mode stats
  • ‘Sandbox’ level is now different during ‘Survival’ game mode
  • Korean translations updated
  • New game mode (Singleplayer)
  • Lighting updated for every level
  • New bullet type (Random)
  • New (old) level (Pier 2)

Plans for September
Next month, I hope to have made lots of progress with the level editor, but that seems like wishful thinking since I will be at BIC Fest for the eSports tournament for the game. I am still aiming to complete the level editor by the end of October. I am also trying to get a basic version of online finished before the end of September so that I can start testing it and see whether it is something worth pursuing or not.

And remember, if you like the game, recommend it to your friends or leave us a review.
