January 2025 Update

Challenges

Sometimes development doesn’t go as planned, and this month was one of those times. I aimed to have at least half of the singleplayer challenges playable but fell short at 40% completion. This was not bad, considering I was out for a week due to illness.

Despite the setback, progress was made. The first four areas are fully playable and have been handed over to early testers. I’m am very happy to say they hate it for all the right reasons, which is exactly what I was hoping for! These challenges are meant to be tough, pushing players to their limits in both creativity and driving skill, and not feel like they were cheated when they fail.

Players can expect to see hatchbacks navigating dense city streets, trucks hauling through rugged towns, and even sedans somehow making their way through Ancient Rome (yes, you read that right).

GUI

One of the big updates this month was to the game’s GUI, which is now much closer to its final version. I’ve added new images, polished animations, and eye-catching VFX to make interactions feel more dynamic and satisfying.

This might seem like a small update, but in reality, a sleek, responsive GUI is vital for a polished player experience. These changes make navigating menus feel just as engaging as the core gameplay itself. There’s still some fine-tuning to be done, particularly with a few stubborn menu screens, but I’ll tackle them over the next few months.

Summary

This month was slower than expected, but I’m shifting gears for a more productive February. My primary focus will be on completing the Garage, where players can customize their vehicles for the Challenges game mode. The good thing is that early testers are loving the challenge mode (or at least enjoying hating it), and the GUI is shaping up beautifully.

Additionally, I’m gearing up for a major milestone: the game’s announcement trailer! I’m excited to finally share this project with a wider audience and get everyone hyped for what there is to come. Stay tuned for all the exciting things that are just around the corner!

Until next time, happy gaming!
