New Cars
Yes, you read that right – cars! Plural. The game now features a total of 10 unique vehicles, each with its own personality, handling, and challenges. Here’s the new cars added to the lineup:
- Sedan: The classic everyday ride. It’s spacious, reliable, and trustworthy – if you’re a good driver, that is.
- Police Car: A souped-up sedan with 4-wheel drive. There’s no crime to fight here, but that won’t stop you from tearing through levels at breakneck speeds.
- Truck: Big, heavy, and surprisingly fun to drive. If you like power, this one’s for you.
- Muscle Car: The king of rear-wheel drive. It’s not the best rear-wheel drive car, but it sure is the most fun to drive.
- Sports Car: Flashy, fast, and a little too cool for its own good. Expect lots of speed – and lots of sliding out of control!
- Pickup Truck: A sturdy workhorse that will get you where you need to go… assuming you don’t crash it first.
- Super Car: The fastest car in the game. How fast? I’m not sure yet because it’s too hard to keep it on the track long enough to find out!
- Spy Car: Mysterious and packed with hidden features. Even I’m still discovering what it’s capable of.
To complete all the single-player challenges, players will need to master every single car. Some vehicles will also have multiple variants, which can be unlocked for the multiplayer minigames game mode.
More Special Items
Special items continue to expand, adding new mechanics and possibilities to the game. Here’s what’s new this month:
- Pressure Pad: This activates when something presses down on it. What does it do? That’s for you to find out!
- Key and Lock: Use the key to unlock… well, whatever the lock is protecting. Just a hint: not everything needs to be unlocked.
- Shield: For new players or those who need an extra boost, the shield provides an extra hit before failing a challenge. This small addition could make all the difference when tackling tougher levels.
These items are designed to keep the gameplay varied and exciting while offering players new ways to approach challenges.
Driving
This month, I made an important update to the steering system. Previously, the steering wheel turned instantly in response to player input which, while fun, wasn’t very realistic. I’ve now introduced a slight lerp (smoothing effect) to the steering, making the transition more gradual.
The result? A driving experience that strikes a balance between arcade-y fun and a touch of realism. The new system gives players finer control over their steering without sacrificing the challenging, fast-paced gameplay the game will be known for.
Summary
This month has been packed with progress, from adding new vehicles and special items to improving the core driving mechanics. While I didn’t have time to create GIFs or videos showcasing the updates, I’ll aim to include them in next month’s blog.
Next month’s focus will be on adding even more special items and interactions within the levels. Once those are complete, I’ll dive into creating the challenges themselves. Early next year, testers will get access to these new test levels, so stay tuned – it’s going to be worth the wait!
Until next time, happy gaming!
