October 2025 Update

no brake no gain Released

no brake no gain officially launched on 2 October 2025, on both Steam and Nintendo Switch… and to a certain extent also on Nintendo Switch 2.

The release has been an incredible milestone. I am genuinely happy with the response so far and have been enjoying seeing players enjoy the challenges found in the game. It’s been a long road of tweaking physics, optimizing controls, and refining difficulty curves, and I’m glad that the effort has resonated with players.

New Game Still In Development

Work on the new game is already well underway. I initially planned to reveal something this month, but decided to hold off. This was not because progress has slowed, but because I wanted the first reveal to feel right. Currently there is just grey-boxes in the game with no actual art.

This is because this time, I’m also taking on the art side of development myself. This is something I haven’t done in nearly six years but it feels good to do it again. But this also means the game is evolving a little slower than my previous games. Lots of time is spent on establishing the visual tone, testing shaders, and creating a cohesive style that fits the game’s mechanics. Most of the core gameplay systems are already implemented, so now it’s about giving them the proper atmosphere and personality through visuals.

Showing the game too early would mean presenting mechanics without the style that gives them context, and that is not the first impression I want. So the plan is to give it just a little bit more of time and reveal it next month with both gameplay and visuals closer to where I want them to be.

Summary

Prototyping for the new game has been going great, and returning to art creation has been surprisingly energizing. It’s been years since I last handled all the visuals myself, and rediscovering that creative side has made development feel fresh again.

I didn’t manage to record a video dev log this month since most of my time went into production work, but next month should be a better time for that. Especially as I will have something more complete to show with the new game.

For now, I’m continuing to refine the prototype, polish the art direction, and push the new game towards a small reveal. This is an exciting phase, the sweet spot between experimentation and definition, and I can’t wait to share more soon.

Until then, thank you to everyone playing no brake no gain and supporting my work. The road ahead looks fun… and maybe a little chaotic.

Until next time, happy gaming!
