Akuto: Mad World December Update

Akuto: Mad World - Double Trouble

Welcome to December’s monthly update for Akuto: Mad World. This month I released one of the biggest updates for Akuto: Mad World, which includes numerous amounts of fixes, gameplay changes, and levels. I have also released a new gameplay trailer, which gives a small glimpse of some of the changes made in the game. Going forward, this will be the only branch of the game on Steam, and the classic ‘Akuto: Mad World’ version will be removed.

You can read on to see what major updates were released in December, with a full list of updates following that. At the bottom of this post, you will find what I am planning for next month. And remember, if you like the game, recommend it to your friends or leave us a review.

Akuto: Mad World is available from Steam, Humble Store, and itch.io. Join me on my Discord server to talk more about Akuto: Mad World and my other games.

New Content in December
Levels
Apart from ‘Acme City’ and ‘Finale’ levels, all the rest of the levels have been removed and replaced with newer, better levels. The new levels have a more consistent art style, look much better, and allow us create better thematically-based levels. The negative of this is that the level editor has been removed from the game and will not be returning.

Weapons
The weapon system in the game has changed now. Every weapon, including melee and ranged weapons, will now be destroyed. Melee weapons will be destroyed after X amount of kills, whereas ranged weapons will get destroyed after they run out of ammo. This allows to create better gameplay situations where players have to not only be wary of their opponents, but also of where the closest weapon pick-up is.

Every weapon pick-up in the game is also randomized, so players will have to adapt with whatever weapon they get.

GUI
There is a new GUI which will help new, and existing, gamers with navigating the menus and understanding what is happening in the game.

Plans for January
I have been researching continuously what the best solution for the online mode is and I have narrowed it down to two choices. I am going to test both solutions and see which one works best. But I am also going to see if it is possible to do online mode with the limited budget I have remaining for this project. I will have more updates next month.

And remember, if you like the game, recommend it to your friends or leave us a review.
