July’s secret update is here, as most of the work was done on behind-the-scenes things that players will never see.
Editor Tools
I started this month by creating some editor tools in advance for making content for the game. These tools are mainly for me to use when I create levels for all the different game modes, but for right now I will be focusing on the singleplayer game mode.
As I have not mentioned much of this before, I will give a brief overview of the singleplayer game mode. In this game mode, the player will enter the world, gather and loot as much data as possible, and then extract without getting wiped. It is quite similar to an extraction game, which is what I am aiming for. Over the next few months, I will give more details about how this game mode works and how it differs from other extraction games on the market. But one thing I can say now is that this will be a singleplayer game mode, and it will not have an online PvP component.
The singleplayer mode will have one map, but it will be split up into multiple sections. The editor tools I have created ensure that all the assets are organised in the right section so they are active when that section is enabled. I have also created some editor warning tools for myself that will tell me when a section of the map is not joined up with other sections.
Prototype Assets

After the editor tools, I decided to create some prototype assets. This was primarily because I was tired of looking at basic cubes. I am also modelling more of the assets this time, so I decided this would be a good time to practise. The results were acceptable. There is room for improvement, but they also showed the vibe I am going for with the game.
Singleplayer Mode Map

Here is a quick look at how to get between different sections of the map. For such a short thing to do, it took a very long time to develop.
Summary
I did not get a chance to focus on the enemies as I had planned last month, but I did get quite a lot of work done that will help me in the future with creating content. I am going to change up my plans for the next few months so I can focus a bit more on the action aspect of the game, such as combat, so I can have playable builds ready by the end of the year.
As for now, thanks for taking your time to read this update, and happy gaming!!
